All classes are taught by April Zhang, a highly experienced Chinese teacher and the author of two series of Chinese textbooks. With her help, many students have achieved remarkable Chinese language proficiency and gained acute Chinese cultural awareness.

If the schedule of the coming class does not work for you, write to April and tell her what time is the the best time for you to take Mandarin lessons. Someone else might be able to join you. If you’d like to learn Mandarin Chinese with your friends or colleagues as a small private group, contact April directly.

Chinese Reading and Writing 1

Read and write simple sentences and short paragraphs with 70 Chinese characters!

This is a beginner’s Chinese writing course, best for people who have learned pinyin and some basic conversational Chinese, such as Mandarin Express Intro Level A or equivalent, but have not yet learned how to read and write Chinese.

From basic strokes to 70 most frequently used Chinese characters, this course takes students to a wonderful world of learning Chinese characters. Students will understand what the Chinese writing system is and the critical importance of learning words and combinations. Learning individual Chinese characters is only the first step.

18 free online video lessons for this course are available. Watched all the videos here beforehand, and concentrate your energy on reading and writing exercises during the class.

  • 15 class hours
  • HKD3,870 per person, including course materials

Terms & Conditions

  1. All group classes are limited to 3-6 participants. 
  2. Students are required to register and make the full payment on or before the designated registration date. Payment is not transferable or refundable unless the course is cancelled by MSL Master.
  3. Group classes are conducted at fixed schedules. Missing sessions are regarded as forfeiting the sessions.
  4. For higher level classes, in order to ensure all participants are at a similar level, a free initial assessment is required when necessary.
  5. In case of Typhoon Signal No 8 issued by Hong Kong Observatory, all classes are automatically cancelled.
