Join the discussion: China-US trade war

The evolving US-China tariff war, now at a fever pitch. Recent news tells that Trump’s strategy is to rally allies against China.

It would be interesting to see who will side with the US, how credible Trump’s promises are, and what a new globalization without the US might look like.

Trump claims “more than 75 countries” are open to trade deals to pressure China (tariff relief for anti-China moves). People are speculating that perhaps only a few are likely to align with the US. There are also opportunistic partners who will sit on the fence.

Could it be possible that a US-excluded globalization, led by an EU-China-Japan axis, is plausible?

Who do you think has the upper hand in this trade war?

Which countries do you think will back the US against China, and why?

Do you trust Trump’s trade deal promises?

Is China’s pitch as a “free trade” leader convincing to you?

What’s the wild card in this trade war that nobody is talking about enough?

What do you think?

If you have interesting ideas about these questions or others, and also love a chance to practice speaking about them in Mandarin, this is your chance.

More about this course:

“What Is Your Opinion” is a platform for high level Chinese language learners to share their views and thoughts on a wide range of events which are shaping our world, and of course, to practice speaking Mandarin as well.

This course is a natural extension for students who have completed the Mandarin Express series (or equivalent) and would like to have a platform to further their study by engaging in topical discussions.

It’s best for students who are interested in world events, including but not solely about events which China’s stances influence the outcome.
